About us
My name is Shell. A while ago my twins and I got into the repping world of Instagram. I have always had a love of supporting small businesses and was eager to show our support wherever I could to all of these amazing mamas living their dreams.
Our repping adventures came to a complete halt when my oldest son was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. One minute I was helping him plan the perfect way to ask his crush to the prom. My shy, brave, amazing boy putting all of his nerves to the side to properly ask her in a way that you only see in the movies. I was so proud of him for being so compassionate and attentive. Then, all of a sudden, I found myself watching him lay in a hospital bed, barely able to move his nearly lifeless body. We had no idea he had been sick. It all just happened so fast.
I learned that day to be thankful. I had spent some time on Google typing in his symptoms and let me tell you I was GLAD it didn't end up being 99% of what I thought it was. But alas, he was still diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Many people don't know how serious this particular disease is. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease results when the body's system for fighting infection (the immune system) turns against a part of the body. In diabetes, the immune system attacks the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas and destroys them. My son is now completely insulin dependent. He has to act as his pancreas. My son was only 17 years old. He has to think about EVERYTHING he eats. He has to test his blood sugar EVERY TIME he gets into his car to drive to make sure he isn't too high or too low. He has to wear a special medical ID bracelet, just in case anything were to ever to happen to him and none of his friends or family were around, EMT's have to know his diagnosis. He constantly has to wonder if he will go low and pass out. He has to always make sure he is administering his insulin appropriately, any mistake could be fatal. My son is not defined by his condition. He is still the same sweet, caring, shy, amazing and smart boy he has always been. It is a depressing, scary, frustrating disease. I am so proud of how he has handled it. How he understands that he cannot live a "normal" teenage life, but he CAN live. I tell my children, all 7 of them, everyday that they need to be positive. Thus, how this brand was born.
I started this brand of clothing for kids to promote positivity and believing in yourself. Achieving your goals. Creating new perspectives. Dreaming of bigger and better. Having HOPE for a better tomorrow. Inspiring others and Imagining a better future for all.
